Tractor-trailer turns over on Florida Turnpike

According to WPLG Local 10 News, Two people were injured Wednesday when a tractor-trailer overturned on the Florida Turnpike in Miami-Dade County. All lanes were shut down. According to Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, the injured were transported to a local hospital.

Truck Explosion Shuts down I-5 in Seattle

SEATTLE – On Thursday, July 28, 2022, Interstate 5 experienced an explosion which led to a multi-hour shutdown. According to Seattle Fire Department, a welding vehicle caught fire and exploded for almost 30 minutes. No injuries were reported.

The damaged Mercer Street exit sign had to be removed. Tom Pearce, a spokesperson for the Washington State Department of Transportation, stated “We had a little bit of a concrete kind of burn and it’s called the laminating work. Just kind of a layer comes loose and so we need to put some asphalt on that as a temporary patch and then we will come back later on a scheduled evening to make a more permanent fix.”

Log Trucks Dual Set of Tires Came Off and Hit Patrol Car

Recently, a log truck with several maintenance issues that led to a set of dual tires coming off a CMV. They not only hit a car. They hit a patrol car.

According to the Georgia Department of Public Safety, “Let’s talk about bad timing. . . This week, a dual set of tires came off a CMV, and struck MCO3 Walker’s patrol car. The trailer also had four inoperative brakes and a crack in the leaf spring hanger. Motor Carrier Officers encourage CMV drivers to do thorough pre-trips, so this can be avoided.”

Toll Booth Attendant Trapped After Oversized Truck Hits Booth

West Virginia – A toll booth attendant at the southbound toll plaza in Chelyan was temporarily trapped and injured on the job Friday, July 29, 2022, when a semi-truck with an oversized load pushed over a toll booth while attempting to use the wrong lane. The toll booth attendant was treated for minor injuries at a local hospital.

Jeff Miller, executive director of the West Virginia Parkways Authority, stated, “The far right lane in any toll plaza is the oversized truck lane. This driver attempted to use the second lane, thinking their load would fit, and ended up hitting the toll booth in the far right lane.”

Mississippi Road Collapses under Semi

Mississippi Highway Patrol responded to a report of a road collapse under a semi truck on July 27, 2022 in Harrison County at Highway 67 & US 49. The off-ramp to US 49S at Highway 67 is closed for repairs.
