84% of those surveyed said they plan to take on additional loads ahead of the holidays.  

“It’s important for us to acknowledge moments that recognize the industry and our customers, and to highlight the hard work of truck drivers that take extra loads ahead of the holidays to ensure Americans have an enjoyable holiday season,” said Kendra Tucker, CEO of Truckstop. 

Additional survey findings revealed: 

• 68% of surveyed drivers plan to take on 16-25% more additional shifts ahead of the holidays (October – January 1st) to support increased seasonal demand. 
• 27% of drivers who completed the survey plan to take on 26-50% more additional shifts ahead of the holiday season (October – January 1st) to support increased seasonal demand. 
• In the Northeast, the numbers trend higher than average, with 31% of drivers surveyed in that region planning to take on 26-50% more additional shifts ahead of the holidays (October -January 1st) to support increased seasonal demand. This is compared to just 23% of U.S. truck drivers surveyed in the South who said the same. 

Some companies are already ramping up their hiring efforts in preparation for the busy holiday season. Walmart announced it would be hiring 40,000 seasonal and full-time employees, including 1,500 full-time truck drivers, to meet the increased demand this season.
