										<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>As the White House works to address the nationwide shortage of baby formula, the Department of Transportation will allow waiving hours of service rules for truck drivers delivering infant formula if needed, reports <a href="https://www.reuters.com/article/supply-chain-baby-formula-buttigieg/refile-u-s-can-waive-trucking-rules-for-formula-deliveries-if-needed-buttigieg-idUSW1N2W305E">Reuters</a>.</p>
<p>“This is principally an issue of production &#8212; more than goods movement. But anytime we see an indication that goods movement is becoming a limiting factor, we’ll do anything we can to tear down obstacles,” U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg told reporters.</p>
<p>The shortage stems from a recall by Abbott in February, exacerbating ongoing supply chain disruptions among formula makers and limiting options for parents across the country. Abbott is one of just four companies that produce roughly 90% of formula in the U.S.</p>
